Solopreneur Examples

The best way to understand a one-person business is to study people who have built one. This section profiles successful solopreneurs: founders who run real, profitable businesses alone or close to it, and who chose to stay small on purpose. If you’re still getting your bearings, start with our guide to what a solopreneur is.

What each profile covers

Every profile follows the same three-part structure, so you can compare founders side by side.

The playbook. What they sell, who they sell it to, and how they found their first customers. We focus on the decisions behind the business, not the highlight reel.
The numbers. Revenue, margins and team size, but only where the founder or reputable coverage has published them, and always with the source and date. Where a figure is self-reported, we say so.
The AI version. How you would run the same playbook today with AI doing the heavy lifting: what the human decides, what AI drafts, and what must be checked before it ships.

Who’s coming

We’re building the library one founder at a time. The line-up includes Pieter Levels, Justin Welsh, Paul Jarvis, Daniel Vassallo, Sahil Lavingia, Arvid Kahl, Tony Dinh, Danny Postma and Marie Poulin. They work in different models: software, audience businesses, courses, productized services and consulting. What they share is control over their own business and a deliberate limit on how big it gets.

Famous solopreneurs aren’t the only lesson, and they aren’t typical. Treat each profile as a case study in what’s possible, not a promise of what you’ll earn. The more useful question is what you can borrow: the niche, the pricing, the system or the habit.
